It's an attempt to legitimize themselves and make what they are doing seem more important that it is. A window washer feels much more important givin a 6 minute number #2 Bible reading if he's wearing a 3 piece suit.

Should I continue to help an "unbelieving" husband?
by RiverPeace ini know there are a lot of 'wise heads' out there on this forum - so i would appreciate your suggestions.. several years ago, i studied with a guy, whose wife is a jw.
(he had studied with several elders before i came along).
the study went reasonably well.

As a former JW you may still have a bit of the left over notion that when it comes to religion, it's your duty to enlighten everyone and save them from themselves. I'd let him come to you if he has any questions or if he wants to discuss religion. If he does come to you, let him know that he doesn't get to decide what information can or can't be discussed.

What pages were supposed to be cut out of the 1917 The finished mystery?
by mickbobcat ini picked a copy up at a flea market and can not remember what pages were supposed to be cut out.

I believe this was a typical 96 page JW publication so pages 1 through 96 should have been cut out.

I received a letter!
by frozen2018 ina letter from a jw arrived the other day.
nothing remarkable.
i wondered why i was sent the letter?

I'd be tempted to write back and let the person know that you understand the purpose of her letter but in doing so she has left herself open to an invasion of her privacy and security.
Explain to her that with a few key strokes, you were able to find out the names of her family members, what kind of vehicle she drives, where she lives and that she is planning a wedding. Include a photo or two of what you saw on Google Maps. Tell her that her that she has nothing to worry about as far as you are concerned but that you wanted to let her know it made you feel a bit creepy to receive such a letter from a complete stranger and that by sending such a letter she is assuming that you and others aren't as enlightened as thinks she is. Advise her that if she insists on sending these letters out, to at least stop giving her personal information .

It took a lot courage for you and your sons (and the rest of us) to leave but she is frightened. Your leaving has pulled the safety net out from under her. She is under the influence of a cult..she is a victim. Is there any way you can take pity on her? Can you think back on a time when you were very very scared and remember what that felt like? I imagine she retreats to your bedroom because it's the only place in this world that she feels safe (a classic sign of depression). Can you somehow reassure her that no matter what, you are on her side and that you and your sons are there to do whatever it takes to make sure she is safe?Thinking about how awful she must feel in this situation will help you feel lest resentful toward her. Good families are hard to come by. Don't be too ready to give up on what you have....err on the side of kindness.

I might have some advice for you but first I need to know:
Other than not having any fun, what are your specific reasons for not wanting to be a JW?
What is the reason you are studying with your mother?
Is your father or other family members JWs ?
What have you said about not wanting to be a JW to your parents or friends.
If you could stop being a JW tomorrow without any issues, what would you do?

the wt view of your christian ancestors
by waton inmost jws to day come from families that have a long, or short line of christian family members.
given that since christ, only 80 per year on average were deemed by wt to be true followers of him, worshipping the father, worthy of life, and there is, in wt's view, no redemption for those at variance with " the truth", .
do they realize that billions of sincere partakers are actually condemned by wt teachings?

To me it's amazing that 2021 years later people still acknowledge and look to Jesus as Gods son and their savior. They may not all agree on the details but the big chunks of Christianity is the pretty much the same. JW's condemn non JW's because they say they aren't engaged in "true worship" but at the same time, the JW doctrine has been tweaked, changed, revamped and thrown out entirely on a regular basis since it's beginning and will continue to be changed. Not one thing they've ever claimed has come about so how are they really different than anyone else?

What “Secret Sins” Do You Think Many JWs Are “Guilty “ Of?
by minimus ini know a lot of witnesses that drink a lot!
secret sins people would confess to the elders were masturbation, dating and touching certain areas and anger issues.
some fathers/husbands looked like model figures until you heard from the family that the dictator ms were horrible at home in more ways than one..
